Update SEAL Logrotate

When SEAL Logrotate is updated, the previous version is uninstalled first. The Seal Logfile Purging task and the PurgeLogfiles.xml file are deleted. After that, the task is created again from the XML file of the new version.

Caution - custom changes are lost

Changes made in the Task Scheduler or in the XML file are lost when updating SEAL Logrotate. The default configuration is active again.

Update

Back up the current task definition before the update to be able to restore your changes afterwards.

Prerequisites:

  • You have administrator rights on the server.

Steps:

  1. In a PowerShell as administrator, back up the current task definition:

    schtasks /Query /TN "Seal Logfile Purging" /XML > "$env:TEMP\SealLogfilePurging.xml"

Alternatively, select the task in the Task Scheduler and click Export.

  2. Install the new version as described in Install SEAL Logrotate.

  3. Make your changes again as described in Configure SEAL Logrotate. Use the backed-up task definition to look up the values you had changed.

Validation:

  • In the Task Scheduler, the Seal Logfile Purging task shows your custom values.
