Update SEAL Logrotate

The /etc/logrotate.d/plossys configuration file is only created during the first installation. When SEAL Logrotate is updated, an existing file is not changed. Custom changes are kept.

Hint - new default configuration

Changes to the default configuration in a new version of SEAL Logrotate are not applied to an existing /etc/logrotate.d/plossys file. Check the release notes before updating.

Caution - uninstallation

When SEAL Logrotate is uninstalled, /etc/logrotate.d/plossys is deleted, including custom changes. Back up the file before uninstalling if you want to reuse it.

Update

Steps:

  1. Install the new version as described in Install SEAL Logrotate.

Validation:

  • /etc/logrotate.d/plossys still contains your custom changes.
